The Department of Fiscal and Administrative Services Purchasing Office will be hosting a free Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE) certification seminar on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Charles County Government Building (200 Baltimore Street, La Plata).

Small, local, women, and minority-owned businesses are invited to attend the seminar to learn how they can expand their contracting opportunities by getting registered with the SLBE program.   Invited guest speaker, LaCheryl Jones, Public Relations Manager, with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Office of Minority Business Enterprise, will tell you how to register and become certified with the State of Maryland Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) program.  Other government agencies will be on-site to provide information on business certifications, procurement opportunities, and other valuable resources available to small businesses.

The Charles County Board of Commissioners created the SLBE Program to support the growth and vitality of Charles County’s small businesses by increasing their success when participating in Charles County Government contracts and other procurement.

Reservations are required.  Contact Lucinia Mundy at MundyL@CharlesCountyMD.gov or call 301-885-1334 to RSVP.  To learn more about the SLBE Program visit www.CharlesCountyMD.gov and click on “Procurement Opportunities.”  Citizens with special needs may contact the Maryland Relay Service at 711, or Relay Service TDD: 800-735-2258.
