SUNDERLAND, Md. — A high-speed police pursuit through Calvert County ended Sunday afternoon after a white Toyota Camry was later found burned in Sunderland and two men reportedly fled from the vehicle.
The pursuit unfolded Aug. 30, 2026, along northbound Route 4.
At one point, the Camry was reported traveling at approximately 120 mph. As it passed Huntingtown High School, speeds were still reported at about 105 mph.
Law enforcement deployed spike strips near the Route 2/4 split and reported a successful strike on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The Camry continued northbound before officers eventually lost sight of it.
The vehicle was later located burned in the 6400 block of Southern Maryland Boulevard in Sunderland. Two Black males were reported to have fled from the Camry before officers arrived.
A duffel bag was found inside the trunk of the vehicle.
Law enforcement established a perimeter and began searching for the two men. K-9 teams were requested, and Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 was assisting with the search from the air.
The incident remains under investigation, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
