WHAT:                          Melwood Recreation Center will host Fall Fest, a free public event for all Southern Maryland residents.
 
                                    Activities will include hayrides, pumpkin carving, pony rides, face painting, a climbing wall, moon bounce and games. Fall plants (mums, asters, pansies) grown in Melwood’s greenhouses will be for sale. Fall Fest is a great opportunity for area residents to learn more about all of Melwood Recreation Center’s year-round programs and activities available for children and adults of all ages and abilities.
 
Admission and parking to the event are free, with a small fee for some activities. Activity bands are $5 each and a family four-pack is only $15. Concessions will be available.

BACKGROUND:            Melwood Recreation Center is called one of Charles County’s best-kept secrets.
The Center operates year-round programs for people of all abilities on 108 acres in western Charles County, Maryland. Programs include the Retreat Center, providing facility rentals for business meetings, community events and social groups; the Equestrian Program, offering general horsemanship and therapeutic riding for anyone over five years of age; Camp Accomplish, a sleep away and day summer camp for children of all abilities; and Access Adventures, an assisted travel program for adults with disabilities. Melwood owns and operates Melwood Recreation Center.
