DUNKIRK, Md. — A Lothian woman is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop near Route 4 led to the discovery of suspected narcotics and paraphernalia, according to court documents.
Jennifer Marie Thomas, 29, of Lothian, Md., was arrested on March 14, 2026, following an investigation that began at a BP gas station located at 2975 West Chesapeake Beach Road.
According to authorities, a deputy observed a vehicle parked at a gas pump for an extended period without actively fueling. The driver, later identified as Thomas, was seen entering and exiting the store multiple times over roughly 20 minutes, behavior the deputy noted was consistent with activity often seen in high-crime areas.
After running the vehicle’s registration, which returned to an address in Lothian, the deputy continued monitoring the vehicle before initiating a traffic stop as it exited toward Route 4.
During the stop, Thomas was unable to provide a valid driver’s license and appeared nervous, avoiding eye contact and repeatedly glancing toward a nearby roadway. A 29-year-old male passenger was also in the vehicle.
While speaking with both individuals, the deputy asked about weapons or illegal substances in the vehicle, which were denied. However, further investigation led to Thomas being detained.
A search incident to arrest revealed a clear container holding a white rock-like substance suspected to be crack cocaine in Thomas’ front pocket. Deputies also recovered a glass smoking device containing residue, concealed on her person.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered additional suspected narcotics, including a white powder believed to be cocaine inside a hollow pen, as well as a plastic bag containing residue located in the dashboard area.
Authorities said the vehicle was later released to a family member at the scene.
Thomas was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing. During transport and upon arrival, deputies reported additional behavior that caused damage to property.
She is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (not cannabis), possession of paraphernalia, and malicious destruction of property under $1,000.
Thomas was released on a $1,500 unsecured personal bond.
A hearing is set for April 15, 2026 in Calvert District Court.
