Personnel analyst Dianne Griner was saluted by Calvert County Government Tuesday, Oct. 8 for her leadership involving a very complicated project. Griner was named the county government Employee of the Month for October by the Employment Recognition Committee (ERC). She was recognized for earning the honor during the Calvert County Commissionersโ weekly meeting.
According to a memo to the commissioners from ERC Chair Kim Gott, the county governmentโs Office of Personnel received notification from state officials in February 2012 that they โwould stop accepting inked fingerprint cardsโthe FBI requires them to be digitizedโand the state would no longer do this.โ
Griner then started making calls to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) for information about the necessary equipment, technology, security and training requirements. She also spoke with vendors and worked with other departments regarding procurement, security measures, CJIS training.
โDiane has also developed procedures for delivering fingerprint services to [the divisions of] Parks and Recreation, Buildings and Grounds, and Fire/Rescue/EMS,โ Gott stated.
Grinerโs project took 18 months to complete and was done while she continued to do her regular job. As a result, new county government hires do not have to be sent out of Calvert for fingerprints, which saves time and money.
โDiane works on many complex projects,โ said Personnel Manager Paula Gray.
Director of Personnel Gail Davis Bourdon commended Griner for her work on the fingerprint project, which she described as โvery major, very long.โ
Each employee of the month receives a certificate and a nominal check, and becomes a candidate for employee of the year.
