At 6 p.m. April 11, Calvert Sheriff’s Dep. Daniel Deakins conducted a patrol check at the Bayfront Park in Chesapeake Beach.
Four males were seen exiting their vehicle and attempting to pick up objects on the ground. After approaching the vehicle, Dep. Deakins detected a strong odor of marijuana.
He observed a small amount of suspected marijuana on the ground next to the vehicle.
A search of three of the occupants was negative for illegal drugs but a search of James A. Bello II, 21 of Chesapeake Beach, revealed drug paraphernalia, 4 syringes with suspected heroin residue and a silver colored spoon with suspected heroin residue were located on his person and in the vehicle.
Bello was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
