High-Speed Fiber Optic Internet Is Coming To North Beach

NORTH BEACH, Md. — IQ Fiber will begin work on a fiber-optic network in North Beach, according to a statement from the town.

North Beach announced in a press release on Aug. 3 that IQ Fiber, a private company, has secured all the necessary permits to move forward with construction of a new fiber-optic network in the town.

The project will install and deploy a modern fiber-optic network throughout North Beach. Fiber networks can deliver faster upload and download speeds, greater capacity for multiple connected devices, and dependable connectivity to support remote work, online learning, telehealth, streaming and other online activities.

During construction, crews will work within the public right-of-way to install aerial fiber-optic cable or underground conduit. Residents will receive door hanger notices approximately three to five days before work begins in their neighborhood.

To help prepare for construction, residents are encouraged to:

• Flag sprinkler heads and irrigation systems.
• Mark invisible dog fences.
• Identify all privately installed underground improvements.
• Water lawns after construction to help sod recover.

So far, there is no estimated completion date, but the statement says, “The Town of North Beach will coordinate with IQ Fiber to help minimize impacts to residents and ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable permit requirements.”
