maryland criminal summons

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Two Mechanicsville adults have been charged after a minor was allegedly left unattended inside a home for nearly two hours, according to charging documents.

Kyrstin Anne Murphy, 30, and Thomas Richard Rochlinski, 41, were each issued a summons July 28 on one misdemeanor count of confining an unattended child.

Charging documents state a St. Mary’s County sheriff’s deputy responded July 22 for a report involving an unattended minor.

The child’s father told investigators that the minor had been staying at a residence shared by Murphy (mother) and Rochlinski (step-father). He alleged the child was left alone there for approximately two hours.

According to charging documents, the child contacted a family member for pickup after allegedly being left alone. Investigators later reviewed text messages they said supported the claim that the child was unsupervised for approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

Murphy and Rochlinski are scheduled for preliminary inquiries at 1 p.m. Sept. 4, 2026, in Courtroom 2 of St. Mary’s County District Court.
