HOLLYWOOD, Md. — A Hollywood woman is facing an escape charge after authorities allege she removed an electronic monitoring device while on pretrial release with court-ordered restrictions.

Christina Lynn Rivas, 53, was charged with second-degree escape following an Aug. 14 investigation.

According to charging documents, Rivas appeared in St. Mary’s District Court on Aug. 11 in a separate criminal case and was released on her own recognizance under several conditions.

Those restrictions included Level 3 pretrial supervision, release only for medical appointments and mental health treatment, no contact with victims, state witnesses or co-defendants, and an order not to return to a separate residence on Morgan Road in Hollywood.

Electronic monitoring was being used to confirm compliance with those restrictions.

On Aug. 14, personnel at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center received a tracker strap tamper alert from Rivas’ electronic monitor.

Staff attempted to contact her by telephone multiple times but were unsuccessful, according to the charging documents.

A St. Mary’s County sheriff’s corporal then responded to Rivas’ listed residence on Morgan Road, where she was located.

Rivas admitted removing the electronic monitor, according to the charging documents.

She was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center.

Rivas was charged with second-degree escape based on the alleged violation of her conditions of release.

Court records show she was initially held without bond following the Aug. 14 arrest.

At an Aug. 17 bond review, Judge David W. Densford released Rivas on her own recognizance.

A trial is set for Sept. 29 in St. Mary’s District Court.
