medstarLeonardtown, Maryland โ€“ MedStar St. Maryโ€™s Hospital named Kay Dโ€™Esposito the 2016 Fayrene Mattingly Auxilian of the Year during its spring luncheon held Friday, April 8. The luncheon also commemorated the Auxiliaryโ€™s 100th year serving the hospital.

As the Auxiliaryโ€™s president, Kay proudly represents the hospital auxiliary within the community, as well as at the Maryland Association of Auxiliaries annual regional meetings in Baltimore. She is a dedicated volunteer, who consistently devotes her time and energy at Auxiliary events, such as the bazaar and the golf tournament and in the Hospitalโ€™s Gift Shop.

โ€œKay is an excellent leader who has organized several key donations focused on patient and staff level satisfaction,โ€ said Christine Wray, president of MedStar St. Maryโ€™s Hospital. โ€œHer welcoming personality and gift of growing the Auxiliary membership provide enormous benefit to our hospital and our community.โ€

The Auxilian of the Year Award was established in 2005 to honor Fayrene Mattingly for her outstanding performance as an auxilian and her dedication to the hospital. The award is named in her honor and presented to an outstanding auxilian during the annual Auxiliary Appreciation Luncheon held in April.

In addition to recognizing Kay as this yearโ€™s Fayrene Mattingly Auxilian of the Year, Ms. Wray spoke in celebration of the Auxiliaryโ€™s 100th year of volunteer service to the hospital. She recounted the myriad of upgrades and patient comforts the Auxiliary has helped fund during the past 100 years and how the volunteer group has greatly impacted the community.
