UPDATE: Last night, units responded to reports of a two-story house fire on the 2000 block of Biglane Court in Huntingtown. 

Crews dispatched around 10:10 p.m. to reports of a fire started by a presumed lightning strike. Upon arrival, fire had already begun to spread throughout the entire attic of the house. Fire departments from surrounding counties were called to assist with containing the fire. 

Units began to pull down parts of the ceiling and extinguished a majority of the fire. Evacuation tones were sounded by first responders soon after the roof began to collapse. 

First responders on the scene estimated that it took approximately three hours to clear the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — We are receiving reports of a working house fire in Calvert County that has required a large fire department response.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on August 14, first responders were alerted to a house fire in the area of Biglane Court. 

A second alarm was sounded soon after, requesting units respond to the scene from Charles and St. Mary’s County. We have not heard of any reported injuries at this time.

Plum Point Road and Emmanuel Church Road have now been closed as a result of the fire. Use caution in the area.
