Update- 9:00 a.m. , Jan. 13

Waldorf, MD– On Jan.12 at 12:41 p.m. volunteer fire departments from Waldorf, Potomac Heights, Brandywine, Hughesville and Bryans Road responded to a house fire at Mahoganyย Court in Waldorf.ย 

A neighbor noticed a single-family, two-story house was showing smoke next door. According to the Dfm. Don Brenneman, “The fire department responded and found a fire on the back porch extending up the back of the house damaging the exterior.”ย 

It took 38 firefighters approximatelyย 10 minutes to control the fire. The area of the fire’s origin was the inside of a wooden dog house. The preliminary cause was ruled accidental by Brenneman An electrical lamp inside the dog house started the fire.ย 

The total estimated loss structurally was $25,000.ย 

There were no reported injuries as a result of this fire.ย
