Huntingtown was able to improve to (2-0) after a stout defensive performance. The Hurricanes held Lackey to 33 yards passing and 149 yards rushing. The defense also had two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

The Hurricanes were able to kick their field goal following a return that started them inside of Lackey’s 20-yard line.

Huntingtown travels to Calvert Thursday at 5 p.m. for the week 3 SMAC GOTW.


(1-1) Calvert-28 @ (0-2) Leonardtown-0

Calvert played only one half against Leonardtown before the game was called due to lightning.

In that one half, Calvert’s junior quarterback Michael Floria was 4 of 5 for 84 yards passing and one touchdown. The Cavaliers gained 121 yards on the ground with seniors Dre Mackall and TJ Prather leading the team with 56 and 50 yards respectively. Both senior running backs also recorded a touchdown.

Defensively the Cavaliers smothered Leonardtown and junior linebacker Gus Aufderheide scored scooping up a fumble and running it 60 yards to the end zone.

The Cavaliers are home Thursday at 5 p.m. against in-county rival Huntingtown for week 3’s SMAC GOTW.

(0-2) Patuxent-13 @ (2-0) Northern-27

Northern handled Patuxent last week, holding the Panthers scoreless until the fourth quarter.

Offensively, junior quarterback Rex Fleming was 7 of 11 passing for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Fleming also lead the team in rushing with 69 yards and two touchdown rushes.

Patuxent has not entered stats by the time of this article.

Northern travels to La Plata (1-1) Thursday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. La Plata is coming off an overtime loss to Chopticon.

Patuxent hosts North Point (2-0) Thursday at 5 p.m.
