LANDOVER, Md. — An 18-year-old Millersville man has been charged after police say he struck a woman with his car during an illegal takeover in Prince George’s County and later attempted to disguise the vehicle.

Police identified the driver as Naef Salmo, arrested days after the Sept. 14, 2025, incident in the 8500 block of Landover Road. At a bail review hearing in Upper Marlboro, District Court Judge Katina Steuart ordered him held without bond. His trial is scheduled for Nov. 17.

The takeover drew a large crowd to a shopping center parking lot in the early morning hours, where cars performed stunts within feet of spectators. Investigators said Salmo’s vehicle struck a woman standing near the ring of activity. She was hospitalized with serious injuries and later released.

Detectives later found Salmo’s car spray-painted in an effort to conceal evidence. Police also reported recovering a handgun from under the hood of the vehicle during the search. Salmo admitted to being the driver involved, police said.

He is facing a range of charges, including:

  • Second-degree assault
  • Causing life-threatening injury while operating a vehicle
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Unlawful assembly
  • Riot
  • Altering physical evidence
  • Obstructing and hindering a police officer

Chief George Nader said the case reflects the risks associated with such gatherings. “These may seem harmless to some, but the fact is, they can be dangerous,” he said. “In this case, a young woman suffered serious injuries. We’ve also investigated a fatal shooting at a car takeover in recent years.”

Police say illegal takeovers, often organized online, continue to challenge law enforcement across the region. Salmo’s next hearing, a subsequent bail review, is set for Sept. 25.
