Johnny E. Archer

Drayden, MD— On Sept. 3, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Wesner responded to Uplands Lane in Drayden in reference to the report of a disturbance.ย 

When Wesner arrived on the scene contact was made with the defendant, who was identifiedย as Johnny E. Archer, 43 of California, in the driveway of the residence.ย 

Wesner observedย obviousย signs indicating that Archer was under the influence of an alcohol. Archer was bleeding from his ear, and had a scratchย on his elbowย and wrist.ย 

Archer stated, “him and his girlfriendย had been involvedย in a physical altercationย over their grandson,” according to chargingย documents.ย 

The victim advised they were at her parent’s house celebratingย Archer’s birthday. The victimย stated Archer becameย extremelyย intoxicated, and a verbal altercationย ensued.ย 

Archer became enraged and punched the victim in the face, causingย swelling to her right eye. Archer pushed the victim to the ground, causingย a laceration to her right leg.ย 

Archer denied all the allegations, and stated it was the victim who assaulted him. Archer advised he was attempting to leave, the victim pushed him to the ground, causingย a scratch to his right elbow and his left wrist.ย 

Archer could not adviseย how he sustained the scratchย to his ear where the blood was coming from. Archer as arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detentionย Center, where he was charged with two counts of second-degree assault.ย 

Archer at this time does not have a scheduled court date appearance. Archer faces a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and/or a maximum fine of $5,000.
