The Board of County Commissioners and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services are pleased to announce that the improvement project to provide air conditioning, improve air circulation in the gymnasium, and install shower facilities at Leonard Hall Recreation Center is now complete. The new systems are up and running and provide a more comfortable atmosphere for program participants – especially during warm and humid months.
The heavily-used facility hosts a variety of youth and adult sports and recreational programs such as indoor soccer, roller hockey, basketball, sports camps and special events. Private roller skating parties are very popular and are booked on a first come, first served basis. The center can also be booked for party rentals and company events.
This improvement project was made possible through funding from St. Mary’s County Government and Maryland’s Program Open Space. The project was previously identified as a need and recommended by citizens and the St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks Citizen Advisory Board during the FY2007 budget cycle.
The facility is located at 23145 Leonard Hall Drive on the Governmental Center Campus in Leonardtown.
