A Two-Sport Standout

This fall, Berry stepped onto the field at Leonardtown High as a wide receiver and defensive back for the Raiders, while also taking the court as a guard in basketball. His versatility reflects years of dedication — including six seasons of youth football with the Southern Maryland Athletic Alliance (SMYAC) and competitive travel basketball with the St. Mary’s Dream and the Southern Maryland Kings.

Now in his first year of high school, he continues to balance his passion for both sports while building friendships, sharpening discipline and growing as a leader.

A Leader On and Off the Court

For Berry, basketball is more than a game — it’s an outlet to challenge himself, stay active and be part of a team. He thrives on the fast pace, the thrill of scoring and the constant opportunity to improve his skills.

Inspired by his father’s own love for the game and the competitiveness of his siblings, Berry grew up learning his first dribble at home, shooting hoops together and watching games on TV. That early encouragement shaped his drive and determination.

One of his proudest moments came after a tough loss — when he lifted up a teammate, choosing encouragement and sportsmanship over frustration. It’s that spirit that makes him a role model both on and off the court.

How to Vote

Community members can support Berry by casting one free vote per day, with donation-based votes also available to benefit the contest’s partnered charities.
