On September 30, 2011, at approximately 3:45 a.m., deputies responded to a residence on Upland Road located in Chaptico, Maryland, for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Richard James Rhodes, 39 of Leonardtown, Maryland, engaged in a verbal dispute with the victim which escalated into a physical assault when Rhodes choked the victim and threw her into a closet. Deputy S. Hawks responded to the scene. Rhodes was arrested and charged with second degree assault.
