Lexington Park man charged with assault and burglary

St. Mary’s County Deputy Schultz responded to a residence on Ronal Drive on September 19 on Ronald Drive in Lexington Park, for a reported burglary.

The victim alleged suspect Sydney Antwan Strain, 26, of Lexington Park, entered the residence after he was let in by young children who opened the door. Once the victim saw it was Strain, she told him to leave and that he was not allowed in the home.

Strain refused to leave and attempted to take his small child who was standing behind the victim in an effort to shield him from Strain. A struggle ensued over the child.

Strain pushed the victim down, and took the child. The child’s mother then began fighting with Strain to get the child back. Strain fled the residence without the child after the victim called 9 1 1.

Deputies located Strain a short time later and he was placed under arrest. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with 3rd Degree Burglary and 2nd Degree Assault.
