Lexington Park Man Charged With Failing To Update Sex Offender Registration

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park man was charged after investigators reported he failed to notify authorities that he had moved from the address listed on his sex offender registration.

Marvin Leon Young, 49, of Lexington Park, was charged with failing to provide required sex offender registration information.

The charge stems from an investigation conducted by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit between May 2025 and March 2026.

Charging documents state Young is a Tier III registrant who is required to register for life and verify his information four times each year. Court records indicate the requirement followed a 2002 third-degree sex offense conviction in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court.

Investigators reported that Young had listed a Callaway address as his residence with probation and the sex offender registry but did not appear to live there.

Electronic location data and physical surveillance allegedly showed Young living at an address on Windmill Point Road in Lexington Park before later moving to the 20500 block of Spring Hill Road.

Charging documents state Young occasionally stayed at another Lexington Park residence, but investigators reported that most of his time was spent at the Spring Hill Road address, which had not been provided to probation or the registry.

During surveillance, investigators frequently observed Young and his girlfriend’s vehicle at the Spring Hill Road home, court records state.

Search warrants were executed March 26 at the Callaway address and two Lexington Park residences. The occupants of the Callaway home reportedly told investigators Young had not lived there for several months and only visited occasionally.

Young was found at the Spring Hill Road residence and denied living there despite mail and personal belongings being located inside, charging documents state.

Investigators reported that Young failed to disclose the Spring Hill Road residence to the St. Mary’s County Sex Offender Registry within three days of the alleged address change.

An arrest warrant was issued June 29 by Judge William Donley and served July 4. Young was initially held without bond.

Judge James Tanavage released Young on recognizance following a July 6 bond review in St. Mary’s County District Court.

A trial is set for Aug. 3, 2026, in St. Mary’s County District Court.
