LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A new destination for colorful, creative beverages officially opened its doors in downtown Leonardtown on Friday, Aug. 7, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County and members of the Leonardtown Town Council.
What The Fizz Beverage Boutique celebrated its grand opening at 10:30 a.m. at 22699 Washington St., welcoming local leaders and community members to the new business.
The beverage boutique offers a wide-ranging menu designed to appeal to different tastes, moods and occasions. Its selections include dirty sodas, matcha, energy drinks, teas, coffee and boba.

A Place Where Flavor Meets Fun
Ahead of the opening, What The Fizz described the boutique as a playful, welcoming space centered on creativity and variety.
“We’ve been planning and creating a place where flavor meets fun … and it’s finally here,” the business shared in a recent social media announcement.
The boutique said its goal is to provide something for everyone, from dirty soda enthusiasts and coffee lovers to matcha drinkers, tea sippers, boba fans and customers looking for an energy boost.
“We can’t wait to serve our community with creativity, quality and a little extra fizz,” the announcement stated.

Local Leaders Welcome New Business
The attendance of county commissioners and Leonardtown council members highlighted the community’s support for the new downtown business.
“Congratulations on our newest business downtown, What The Fizz Beverage Boutique!” Leonardtown Councilman Nick Colvin said. “Be sure to stop by and grab a drink next time you’re in town. Congratulations and good luck! Excited to have you in Leonardtown!”

Colvin noted that the boutique is located next to Salted Scoop in the space formerly occupied by Kneaded Bakery.
Ribbon-cutting ceremonies traditionally mark an important milestone for local entrepreneurs while introducing their businesses to residents and visitors. What The Fizz joins Leonardtown’s growing collection of locally owned restaurants, cafés, shops and gathering places, adding a new beverage-focused option in the heart of town.
