Gary S. Hardesty Sr., 46 of Lexington Park, was killed in a single-car crash on Rt. 5, Great Mills, at 9:37 p.m. Dec. 15.
St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Deputies report the crash took place on Point Lookout road .just south of Adkins Road.
Witnesses report Hardesty was driving 1985 Ford Mustang southbound on Point Lookout road when he failed to drive in a single lane and went off the right side of road.
Once off the roadway, the vehicle struck a tree head-on causing severe damage to the vehicle and causing fatal injuries to himself.
Alcohol and driver error are believed to be contributing factors in the collision, police say.There was no one else in the vehicle.
Hardesty was dead at the scene, police say.
