Leonardtown, MD— Michael R. Anthony, of Lexington Park was sentenced to 20 years suspended down to 12 years in the Department of Corrections for a controlled dangerous substance distribution charge.ย
“Anthony is incapable of complying with the rules of the court and with the sexual registry.” Maryland State’s Attorney Richard Fritz said. “The state would recommend the highest that the sentencing guidelines with allow.”ย
“His client has a drug problem, he suffers from an addiction,” said his lawyer Eric Sullivan. “He sells drugs to feed his own addiction.”
When the judge asked Anthony if there was anything he would like to say before she handed down her sentence, Anthony replied, “I know what I did was wrong, I don’t want to go to prison. I want to get my life back.”ย
After Anthony serves his 12-year sentence, he will also have 3 years of supervised probation to adhere to. ย
