PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Lexington Park woman has been charged after allegedly assaulting a correctional deputy at the Calvert County Detention Center, according to court documents.
Desirae Belle Sullivan, 35, of Lexington Park, is charged with second-degree assault on a Department of Corrections employee and second-degree assault in connection with the March 31, 2026 incident.
According to the statement of probable cause, deputies responded to a report of an inmate assault at the detention center on Stafford Road in Prince Frederick. Investigators said Sullivan, who was incarcerated at the time, had moved into a different housing unit without permission and refused multiple orders to return to her assigned cell.
When a correctional deputy instructed her to return, Sullivan refused and told staff they would have to physically move her. Supervisors were notified, and after continued noncompliance, a cell extraction was conducted to remove Sullivan from the area.
Authorities allege that after being placed in handcuffs, Sullivan kicked a correctional deputy in the leg near the knee area and then attempted to kick again, though the second attempt did not make contact.
No visible injuries were reported following the incident, and investigators noted the encounter was captured on camera.
Sullivan was arrested and later released on her own recognizance following a bail review on March 31, 2026.
A trial is scheduled for May 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in Calvert District Court.
