LifeStyles of Maryland Foundation, Inc. is proud to partner with First Response Staffing to expand transportation services for low- to moderate-income Southern Maryland residents to get to and from medical- and employment-related appointments throughout the DC Urbanized region. Door-to-door transportation is available for ambulatory and non-ambulatory persons at a subsidized rate.
The DC urbanized region is comprised of Northern Virginia; Washington, DC; and, suburban Maryland. The services are provided by trained staff and volunteer drivers in a safe and comfortable environment. Members of First Response Staffing are typically persons comprised of off-duty fire fighters, EMS and police officers who want to further serve the community. Partnering with First Response Staffing will help fill the gap of meeting the growing demands to provide demand-response transportation. Mike Glaubitz, Principal of FRS, states โOur providers will continue to place “service to others” as our motto and we look forward to contributing to this mission.”
Persons can contact Margaret Payne, Transportation Manager, to apply for transportation services. Applications can also be found online at: www.lifestylesofmd.org/-transportation-.
Applicants are asked to provide 48 hoursโ notice for transportation services to determine an available driver and vehicle. This program is partially funded by the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) and Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG).
