LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Emergency crews are responding to a serious incident involving a 16-year-old male in Leonardtown Wednesday evening, Aug. 26.
The incident was reported at about 6:47 p.m. in the area of Medleys Neck Road, Fairgrounds Road and Saint Margarets Drive.
Initial dispatch information indicated the teen had suffered a head injury and was experiencing seizures. Early reports initially listed the patient as a 30-year-old male, but dispatchers later corrected his age to 16.
According to initial reports, the teen jumped from a moving vehicle and was found bleeding from the head and experiencing agonal breathing, prompting an advanced life support response.
A Maryland State Police helicopter was requested due to the severity of the teen’s injuries. Trooper 7 was launched for the patient, who was reported to be in A1, life-threatening condition.
Emergency crews established a landing zone at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds for the helicopter.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been confirmed.
Patient transported to Johns Hopkins Trauma Center.
