RG III Begins 11 On 11 Drills Today!!!
ย
Hello Sports Fans, Iโm Buddy Long. And this is the Wednesday August 14th edition of Southern Maryland Sports.
ย
Washington Redskins:
The next critical step in the rehabilitation process for Washington Redskins Quarterback Robert Griffin III continues today as the Redskins franchise QB will begin the long anticipated 11 on 11 drills with the first team today in training camp in Richmond. Griffin, just 7 months removed from ACL surgery on his knee, a process that takes at least 7-9 months for recovery, will continue to prepare for the September 9 season opener Monday Night against the Philadelphia Eagles. So far, no issues have hampered Griffin in his comeback.
The news on the defensive side of the ball was not so good Tuesday as the team lost Rookie Safety Philip Thomas to a torn Lisfranc Ligament tear in his left foot. The injury will force Thomas out for at least 4-5 months as the team will place the first year safety on the Injured Reserve list. The Skins continue to prepare for their second pre season game which will be Monday Night at Fed Ex Field against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
ย
Baltimore Ravens:
The newest addition to the Ravens offense took to the field in Owings Mills Tuesday as Tight End Dallas Clark joined the teamed for practice. Clarks arrival comes on the heels of the team also signing veteran receiver Brandon Stokely the day prior.ย Clarks signing is even more critical as it appears Ed Dickson continues to be bothered by a hamstring injury that may keep him out of the season opener Thursday September 5th against the Denver Broncos. Visanthe Shanko currently is tops on the depth chart with Clark the #2 man in the lineup for tight ends. The team continues to prepare for Thursday evenings second pre season matchup against the Atlanta Falcons at M&T Bank Stadium.
