Prince Frederick, MD – A statement made by Dr. Kirk Conway at the recent open house at his physical therapy center was worth pondering. “Many of our clients’ first exposure to exercise was through therapy,” he said. The lack of exercise has the real potential to lead to major health issues. The staff at K. Conway Physical Therapy is out to prove exercise is not something to be avoided. It’s easier than you thought and its benefits can be long-term.
Conway stated the physical therapy, including massages, “build their [clients’] confidence up and they feel better.” The therapy center opened its main facility in 2007.
Saturday, Oct. 29, K. Conway Physical Therapy staff and management hosted an open house at the location, where Main Street, Church Street and Armory Road are all linked together. Several local officials were also in attendance.
Conway has been working in the physical therapy field for 15 years. “Everybody here is top notch,” he said of the center’s staff. In addition to supervising exercise and providing massages, the employees take an interest in a client’s health, tracking vital data such as the client’s blood pressure and heart rate.
“My main goal is to make Calvert County the healthiest county possible,” Conway told TheBayNet.com. “This county is poised to do this.”
The therapy center’s ‘health coaches’ work with and advise clients on such things as nutrition. With the rising cost of health insurance, Conway predicted, “more responsibility is going to be placed on the individual to stay healthy.”
As for his own exercise routine, Conway, a Calvert County native said, “I like weight lifting, walking and swimming.”
