Jose Luis Sime Morales, 25
On July 6, 2021, DFC Cress attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Bayside Road and Chesapeake Beach Road in Chesapeake Beach for a motorcyclist not wearing a safety helmet. The operator was travelling at speeds in excess of 80 MPH in a posted 30 MPH zone.
With activated lights and sirens, Deputy Cress began pursuing the vehicle. The operator of the motorcycle passed numerous vehicles to include a school bus on a solid yellow line in an attempt to elude police officers. The driver, identified as Jose Luis Sime Morales, 25 of Chesapeake Beach, MD, made a U-turn at the intersection of Christiana Parran and Bayside Road where the motorcycle became disabled.
Morales was placed into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Negligent and Reckless Driving, Unauthorized Taking of a Motor Vehicle and other traffic related charges.
