THEFT – On February 5, 2015, Deputy Logue responded to Lexington Village Way in California, for a reported shoplifter at Kohl’s Department Store. The emergency communications center provided a description of the suspect and direction of travel. Deputy Logue subsequently located the suspect identified as Richard Lester Maples, age 51, of Mechanicsville. Maples was holding a Kohl’s shopping bag containing two sets of headphones valued at $99.99. Store employees saw Maples place the items in the bag and leave the store without paying for them. Maples was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Theft Under $1,000.00. Maples also had an outstanding arrest warrant charging him with Failure to Appear in Court on a drug charge. CASE #6969-15
