On December 2, 2013 at 1:11AM, the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) broadcast a glass breakage alarm activation at the Burchmart located on Three Notch Road in Hollywood.
Deputy First Class Cathcart and his K9 partner responded to the business and quickly determined the front door had been forced open and entry had been made. Numerous items of merchandise appeared to have been damaged and stolen.
The Maryland Lottery register had been forced open and was on the floor. Meanwhile, Trooper Hardesty of the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barack had conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on nearby Mervell Dean Road.
Trooper Hardesty believed the driver of the vehicle may be involved in the burglary after he observed possible evidence in the plain view inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as Lee Xavier Robinson, 49, of Valley Lee.
Items commonly used as burglarโs tools were in the vehicle operated by Robinson. Additional investigation conducted by Corporal Goodwin-OโConnor determined Robinson matched the description of the suspect seen on video surveillance committing the crime. During a search of Robinsonโs vehicle evidence from the crime was recovered.
At 12:22AM, Maryland State Police responded to the Korner Karryout in Mechanicsville, for a glass breakage alarm activation. Further investigation revealed, a suspect matching the description of Robinson was observed on video surveillance attempting to enter the business but was not successful.
Robinson was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center. He was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and Attempted 2nd Degree Burglary. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division conducted follow up investigation.
Additional charges may be forthcoming upon review with the Stateโs Attorney.
