California, MD— On May 26, the Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force was conducting a proactive operation involving sexual solicitation of minors.
At that time, Tfc. Reid of the Maryland State Police was monitoring an online website when a user who posted his phone number, as well as a picture, was discovered. The user had an ad titled, “Jerkoff For U,” according to charging documents.
Reid was posing as an underage girl named ‘(name redacted)’ and sent a text message to the phone number listed in Dove’s advertisement and apparently made it known on several occasions during the chat conversations that ‘(name redacted)’ was underage.
The suspect was identified as Tracey N. Dove, 50, of Annapolis. Reid and Dove chatted through text message and, “Dove brought up the idea of having a sexual relationship with ‘(name redacted),’ ” according to charging documents.
Dove expressed that he wanted to engage in sexual relations with ‘(name redacted).’ Dove also told ‘(name redacted)’ that he would like to ‘jack off’ in front of her and later asked ‘(name redacted)’ on two occasions to ‘jerk me (Dove) off.’
Dove provided ‘(name redacted)’ with one photograph of his face in the ad. Dove went on to ask ‘(name redacted)’ to meet in person. The two agreed to meet at the Bob Evans in California.
Dove explained that it would take him an hour and a half to drive from Annapolis to California. Police observed Dove pulling into parking lots across the street from Bob Evans.
Dove has been charged with sexual solicitation of a minor. At this time, Dove does not have a scheduled court date. Dove faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and or a maximum fine of $25,000.
