Calvert County Sheriff’s Office DFC J. Lord responded on June 23 to Anthony’s Bar in Dunkirk for the report of a stolen vehicle. He determined that the vehicle owner had been sitting at the bar conversing with a man she did not previously know. When she went to the restroom, witnesses saw the man go into the woman’s purse and take her car keys. He then went outside and drove away in the vehicle.
DFC Lord checked the receipt of the man’s bar tab and requested that Anne Arundel County police check the man’s home address in Lothian for the vehicle. The man and the vehicle were both located. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
Kevin Lee Carr, 43, was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Carr told Lord that the woman had given him the keys to the vehicle, that he waited for the woman to come outside but when she didn’t, he went home.
