A Charles County man was struck and killed by a vehicle May 1 shortly after 1 a.m., police reported. The accident occurred on southbound Route 301 at Vernon Road in Waldorf.
According to a dispatch from the Maryland State Police (MSP) La Plata Barrack, the deceased has been identified as Jose Echeverria-Aguilar, 27 of Waldorf. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Investigators reported a 2012 Ford Focus driven by a 21-year-old Nanjemoy woman was traveling on Route 301 when Echeverria-Aguilar attempted to cross the road. Echeverria-Aguilar was struck in lane three. The driver remained at the scene. She was not injured.
The accident is being investigated by Trooper T.M. Davis.
