Just after 5 p.m. Nov. 28, a driver left a 2003 Ford Windstar unlocked and running while they went into a store in Lexington Park, for a quick purchase.
In the short time it took for the purchase, a suspect entered the vehicle and drove away. A lookout for the suspect and vehicle was broadcast.
Deputy Anthony Whipkey and Trooper Eric Evans located the vehicle in a residential area and conducted a traffic stop.
The suspect driver, Rodney Pernall McDow, 43, of Capital Heights, was placed under arrest charged with Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle and Theft over $500.00. He was transported to the Detention Center pending a bond Hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
