La Plata, MD – A Waldorf man will face sentencing May 18 for a second-degree rape charge stemming from a June 9, 2014 incident. Antoine Andre Reeves, 42 of Waldorf, pled to second-degree assault before Charles County Circuit Court Judge Helen I. Harrington Monday, March 23 in La Plata.
Harrington told the defendant the charge carries a sentence of 10 years in prison and a $2,500 or both.
According to the plea arrangement he faces 120 days in jail, but the judge told him he must do at least 30 days of active incarceration for unpermitted offensive contact with another person.
Charles County Assistant Stateโs Attorney Sarah Freeman said that the charges against Reeves stem from an incident on Charleston Court in Waldorf where the defendant โforced vaginal intercourse upon the victim without her consent.โ
Freeman detailed how the victim received a phone call from her former fiancรฉ and allowed him to come to the residence despite having cancelled their engagement two months prior.
โShe allowed him to visit her and when he arrived, he asked her if he could take a shower because he was coming from work,โ Freeman said. โAfter his shower he fell asleep in the bed with the victim. At some point Mr. Reeves woke up and requested the victim perform oral sex. He grabbed the back of her head and tried to force her head down on his penis. Then he pulled down her panties and tried to force intercourse, placed his penis inside her vagina and engaged in intercourse without her consent.โ
Freeman added that when Reeves grabbed the victim he caused slight abrasions on her neck, which had turned to purple and yellow bruises when the investigating officer came back a few days later to take photographs.
Reeves, represented by attorney Hammad Matin, entered an Alford plea, denying the allegations, but admitting the prosecution could have brought evidence to substantiate their case.
Harrington stated Reeves will face sentencing May 18.
