Man arrested for Possession of Cocaine – Passenger Barely Able to Speak
09/01/05 at 10:11 pm: Joseph Sylvester Thompson, 50, of Mechanicsville was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.
TFC Linger was patrolling Lawrence Hayden Road, Hollywood, when he observed a vehicle at the dead end with the lights off. TFC Linger made contact with the vehicle’s two occupants. Mr. Thompson was identified as the driver. The passenger was a 26 year old female. The passenger appeared extremely impaired and could barely speak, according to police.
Mr. Thompson couldn’t advise why his lights were off. Mr. Thompson admitted to contraband in the vehicle and retrieved a plastic smoking device from under the driver’s seat. Further investigation revealed that the passenger was attempting to conceal cocaine in between her fingers.
Mr. Thompson was taken to the detention center for processing. Due to the passenger’s condition she was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Charges are pending against the passenger.

Drunk and Disorderly in Liquor Store
09/03/05 at 7:09 pm: James Bobbie Lee Carter, 44, of Leonardtown was arrested and charged with Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Trespassing.
Mr. Carter had been told the previous day not to come into the establishment because of his disorderly conduct. Mr. Carter, who was intoxicated, entered Center Liquors and became disorderly. When service was refused he started yelling obscenities and verbally threatening the owner and his wife.
Sgt. Breck, off-duty, arrived on the scene and attempted to detain Mr. Carter for investigative purposes. Mr. Carter pushed Sgt. Breck and then resisted arrest. Apprehension was made by Sgt. Breck. No injuries to either subject. TFC Linger responded and completed with investigation.

Drunk Driver Conceals Coke in Car
09/04/05 at 1:39 am: Dewon Antanio Dyson, 24, of Lexington Park was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia and DUI.
Mr. Dyson was stopped at Rt. 235 and Mervell Dean Rd, Hollywood, for weaving in two lanes. He was arrested for DUI. During a search of his vehicle TFC Linger located a plastic straw containing suspected cocaine under the driver’s seat.

Driver has no License but Plenty of Pot
09/04/05 at 11:35 pm: Kenneth Ray Chewning Sr., 41, of Chaptico and Ed Suander Lyon, 46, of Clements: Both suspects were charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.
TFC Linger stopped a vehicle for speeding on Kavanagh Road at Laurel Grove Road, Loveville. The driver, Mr. Lyon, advised TFC Linger that he doesn’t have a license and his privilege is suspended. A Motor Vehicle Administration check confirmed this.
Mr. Lyon was placed under arrested for driving while suspended. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana in the center console. Mr. Lyon and the passenger, Mr. Chewning, were arrested and charged with the CDS violations.

***All suspects were taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center for processing and pending a bond review.

Arrest of Mechanicsville Man Wanted in Two States
On 09/02/05 at 10:24 pm TFC Linger responded to a residence in Mechanicsville for an attempt to locate. Contact was made with Christian Joseph Cody, 22, of Mechanicsville.
