***The Maryland Department of Health has information that is not current with what St. Mary’s County Health Department officials are reporting. At this time, St. Mary’s County is showing 40 positive cases.***

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. โ€” As of Saturday morning at roughly 10 a.m., the Maryland Department of Health(MDH) is confirming a total of 3,125 cases of the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) across the state of Maryland, while there are going to be more results that are presumably still waiting to be confirmed. This new total means there are over 367 newly confirmed cases in the past 24 hours.

Of the confirmed cases, over 821 people were ever hospitalized, and 157 of those were recorded in the past day. 159 people have been released from their isolation according to MDH, none of which have been recorded in the past day.

11 people in the state have died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the stateโ€™s death toll unfortunately up to 53. This is the largest single day influx in the state to date.

Negative test results also grew, with at least 1,553 negative confirmations in the past day, bring that total to 22,485.

At this time, there are 168 officially confirmed cases in the Southern Maryland region. Charles County saw their previously confirmed total of 90 cases rise to 95. In Calvert County, MDH has confirmed three more official cases, bringing their total up to 33. St. Maryโ€™s County now counts cases on a rolling basis, and records from the county show a total of 40 cases now, which is up five from Friday.

A majority of the positive cases across the state are still found in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County. Since yesterday, Montgomery County saw an increase of 74 newly recorded cases, bringing their total to at least 640. PG County is continuing to significantly outpace cases in Montgomery, with the confirmation of 90 newly confirmed cases since yesterday. This is the fourth consecutive day that PG County has topped Montgomery County in a single day increase. Anne Arundel County has also confirmed 40 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing their official total to 289.

On April 3, the total number of confirmed cases by the Maryland Department of Health was at least 2,763. As of April 4, that recorded number is at least 3,130, showing over a 13.2% increase across the state in the past 24 hours.
