First and Second Degree Assault
On April 10, 2011 deputies responded to a residence on Coolidge Drive in Mechanicsville, Maryland for a report of an assault in progress. Responding deputies were advised that the suspect, Keith Andrew Breitmaier, 20 of Mechanicsville, Maryland, was in possession of a sword and was threatening to assault the responding officers. When deputies arrived on the scene they observed Breitmaier exiting the residence carrying numerous items including a sword three feet in length. Breitmaier dropped the other items, ran towards the deputies, raised the sword over his head and threatened the deputies. Breitmaier then stopped, turned around and attempted to run back towards the residence. After a brief foot pursuit Breitmaier was subdued and arrested. Further investigation revealed Breitmaier had assaulted an individual inside the residence. Breitmaier was charged with two counts of first degree assault and three counts of second degree assault.
