An arson fire at a vacant single-family, split-foyer house in Mechanicsville is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office. The fire Wednesday afternoon at 26363 Mar-A-Lee Drive caused an estimated $75,000 damage.
The fire was discovered by a neighbor at 2:23 p.m. It took 30 firefighters from Hollywood, Bay District, Leonardtown, Mechanicsville, and Seventh District volunteer fire departments 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control. The house is owned by James Johnson and Thomas Brady.
According to the report from Deputy Fire Marshall Melissa Bean: โThe incendiary fire was started by unknown suspect(s) igniting combustible items inside the vacant house. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Fire Marshalโs Southern Regional Office at 443-550-6834.โ
