LEONARDTOWN, Md. – We’re excited to celebrate our final “SPIRIT” winners for 2024, DeYonna and Heather! Honored by colleagues and patients’ families, these exceptional associates have gone above and beyond for our patients and team.
DeYonna, a nurse in Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics, was honored for taking exceptional care of a young patient who had an advanced disease. She took extra time to help calm the patient’s fears and tirelessly advocated for the patient’s comfort. The patient and the family expressed how much DeYonna’s attentive and compassionate care meant to them.
Heather, an aide for Hospice of St. Mary’s, was celebrated for the excellent care she gave a hospice patient. Her compassion, patience, and commitment profoundly impacted the patient’s life. The patient’s family was comforted knowing Heather was attending to the patient’s needs, ensuring comfort, and providing companionship.
