Great Mills, MD – On Sunday, March 31 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Trooper T. Howard responded to a broadcast for a reckless vehicle on Horsehead Road. The suspect vehicle was located moments later and the driver, identified as Carlos Ernesto Rivera Salazar, 29 of Mexico. Salazar was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. Salazar resisted arrest and assaulted Howard. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he continued to resist arrest.

Salazar was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, malicious destruction of property and driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to court records, Salazar was released on $5,000 bond April 1. A hearing on the charges is tentatively set for May 14 in District Court.
