OWINGS, Md. – It was a packed house Saturday as MMG Sports Plex, located at 7630 Meadow Run Lane, Owings, MD, finally opened its doors to the public.
It’s been a long road, but the turf building is officially open for business, with turf fields and batting cages available from 10 am – 9 pm, and by appointment only outside of those hours.

MMG Owner Brian Griffin’s son Max had the honor of cutting the ribbon this weekend to open the building.
“I am very proud of my mommy and daddy and I’m thinking about my brother.”
MMG is named after Max and his brother Mason who passed away at two months old.
Griffin says he’s excited that they’ve cleared the recent hurdles to open the building, but there’s still work to be done.
“I feel proud of this accomplishment in my hometown, but not fully satisfied until the other building is up and running.”

The other building which houses two basketball courts (available for teams to rent), volleyball, pickleball, physical therapy, free weights, gaming room, and more, is still a few months from completion.
Property owner Jason Scaggs says construction on the second building will continue and hopes to have it open in two months. He tells The BayNet that a deal has also been reached for the lot behind MMG.
“We have reached a deal in principle to sell the lot behind MMG Sports to Skate Zone of Crofton. We are working out the final details now for the construction of a new 26,000-square-foot indoor roller rink. This will become Skate Zone’s second location.”

As for MMG, they are open from 10 am-9 pm. Athletes can come in to use the facility for $10 a person, per hour. Three batting cages are also available for rent for $40 an hour.
