Aย multi-story building that would include several dwelling units is being proposed in proximity to the bay in the town of Chesapeake Beach. Earlier this week the secretary for Chesapeake Beach Planning and Zoning sent out a notice to adjacent property owners regarding the Wednesday, May 8 meeting of the Chesapeake Beach Planning Commission.

A developer, Sunrise on the Chesapeake, LLC, will present a concept site plan for a proposed multi-family residential building. โThe development project is proposed to be located at 4015 and 4019 28th Street,โ stated Planning and Zoning Secretary Fran Addicott. โIt would consist of four stories over a coverage parking lot and would contain 10 dwelling units.โ
ย
Chesapeake Beach Town Councilwoman Valerie Beaudin, who lives near the proposed project site, admitted she had not seen the site plan but admitted the reported scope of the plan was troubling. โNeedless to say, thereโs a concern,โ said Beaudin, who stated the addition of 10 residences โwould be a traffic nightmare.โ Beaudin said the developers are assuredly seeking to employ the โBonus Density Overlayโ which is allowable in the project area. The councilwoman said according to the town charter, it is within the authority of the Planning and Zoning Administration and Planning Commission to deny the Bonus Density Overlay
.
The May 8 meeting of the Town of Chesapeake Beach Planning Commission will be held at the town hall and will begin at 7 p.m.
ย
Copies of the concept site plan will be available to public prior to the meeting. Anyone with questions may call the town hall at 410-257-2230.
