Budds Creek, MD- Last week’s heavy rains canceled parts of this past weekend’s races at Budds Creek. However, that didn’t stop the people from coming out Sunday to watch Pro-Mod action and a Grudge match between Lizzy Musi’s 2015 Nitrous Dodge Dart and Melanie Selami’sย 1968 Firebird.

Qualifying got off to a fast start with local racer Tommy Gray “Undertaker” setting a track record at 5.78 in the 18th mile. Followed by several cars that cracked the sub 6 mark in the first round of qualifying. Later in the afternoon, Gray staged for a second pass and broke his record again; racing down the track at a 5.72 to seal the track record and take the #1 qualifying position. Due to weather, the final rounds will take place at in upcoming race later this season.ย 

Musi and Salemi were scheduled for the Grudge match many months ago and had the chance to back out with the rain-delayed session. However, both ladies said this had to be settled. Although both race on the PDRA Tour, they are in different classes and have never raced against each other. ย The first pass netted Musi with the win. The two ladies headed back to the pits to tweak the cars and made their way to the boxes later in the afternoon. ย This time Lizzy took to the right lane. One of the fastest track times every was recorded with Lizzy setting a 1/8th-mile standard at 3.63 to Salemi’s 3.73. ย Both ladies will be back at MDIR later this year for more PDRA action.
