CALVERT COUNTY, Md. — Summer is drawing to a close here in Maryland, but the small business scene of Calvert County shows no sign of slowing down. This month, we’re shouting out some of the summer’s entrepreneurs we missed as we head into fall and continue to see more exciting shopping, dining and service options.
Here’s what’s new to Calvert County, according to the What’s Going Where map and Calvert’s new and expanding businesses page.
Bark & Bath Pet Salon
Bark & Bath is an award-winning pet salon that just celebrated its ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new location in Owings. The Owings location offers grooming, nail trimming and other salon services for pets. And they’re hiring!

Tiptoe Nails & Spa
Tiptoe Nails & Spa in Huntingtown had its grand opening in July and has since been racking up the good vibes and positive reviews. Customers say they love working with the skilled technicians and the high-quality customer service. The spa offers manicures, pedicures, nail treatments and other beauty services.

Blue Crab Sports Cards
Blue Crab Sports Cards is a family-operated trading card and collectibles store in Prince Frederick. They deal with cards and memorabilia in sports, Pokémon, Magic, Marvel and more, and offer grading services. The store opened back in June and has enjoyed working with its enthusiastic clientele.

Bubbalou’s BBQ
This tasty sandwich spot in Sunderland makes artisan sandwiches, barbecue, sides and desserts. Their Facebook reads: “We have a passion for serving great food, from sourcing the purest of ingredients to building the best sandwiches… Good food isn’t cheap & cheap food isn’t good.” Bubbalou’s often sells out of its food before it officially closes for the day, so if you’re ready to get some good food, get there early.
