On January 31 at 7:13 a.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Walden Court in Bryans Road for the report of a stolen car that just occurred.
The victim said she left her car – a Nissan Armada – warming in her driveway. Minutes later, she noticed her car had been stolen. The victim and her son drove around the area and spotted their vehicle a few blocks away. They called police and followed the car. Officers arrived and initiated a traffic stop but the driver refused to pull over.
The driver continued to flee but lost control of the SUV and struck a pole near Berry Road and Middleton Road, disabling the vehicle.
The driver, Mario Tyrell Maye, 19, of S.E. Washington, D.C., and a passenger, Brian Reginald Gale, 21, of Capitol Heights, were arrested without incident.
Further investigation revealed the suspects stole a Lincoln Continental earlier that morning from Washington, DC., drove to Bryans Road, ditched the Lincoln and stole the Armada. Officers canvassed the area and located the stolen Lincoln on Captain Johns Court. Both suspects were charged with theft. Officer Moore and K-9 Officer Roberts made the arrests.
