At 1:10 a.m. July 12, Bay District Volunteers were alerted to a vehicle crash, with one person reported not breathing, at the intersection of Great Mills Road and South Shangri La Drive.

Fire Sergeant Jeff Evans reports Chief 3A heard the crash from the station and responded immediately finding a two vehicle accident that would require extensive extrication.

All parties were conscious and breathing upon the arrival of the Asst. Chief. Rescue Squad 3 responded, and Pax River Engine 132 was called for the Engine Company.

Upon arrival, Squad 3 staged the extrication equipment and a dual door removal was performed and complete roof removal. Four pieces of extrication equipment were being utilized at the same time in freeing the trapped driver.

Trooper 7 helicopter was called to respond due to the injuries, and landed at Millison Plaza. Engine 92 was called to handle the landing zone, while the St. Mary’s County Sheriff Office handled crowd control.

Extrication was completed at 1:36 a.m., and one patient was flown to PG Shock Trauma.
