White Plains, MD – State authorities reported one person sustained injuries in an early-morning fire in Charles County Friday, Aug. 29. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze occurred at a property on Hanson Road in White Plains that was the site of a vehicle fire earlier this week. In the latest incident a 38-foot Bay Ridge recreational vehicle sustained $30,000 damage.

“The fire was determined to have started inside the camper,” stated Dfm. John Nelson. “The fire destroyed the camper and its contents. This was the second fire at the address. An investigation is ongoing to determine if the fires are related.”

Nelson reported 30 firefighters from Waldorf, La Plata, Bryans Road, Marbury and Potomac Heights were dispatched to the scene and had the flames under control in 10 minutes.

“An adult male was transported by helicopter to Medstar Washington Hospital for smoke inhalation,” Nelson reported. “The injuries were determined to be nonlife-threatening.”

The owner and occupant of the RV was identified by Nelson in the report as Harry Moxley. There is no specific information in the dispatch that Moxley was the individual transported to the hospital.

Anyone who might have information that could aid in the investigation is asked to contact the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Southern Regional Office at 443-550-6820.
