PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A North Beach man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a year-long Calvert County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigation, according to court records.
Court records show Adolfo Lopez-Olguin, 42, of North Beach, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a narcotic, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of possessing or using a false government identification document following his arrest on June 10, 2026.
Court records show Lopez-Olguin was ordered held without bond following a June 12 bail review before Judge Michelle R. Saunders.
According to charging documents, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit began investigating Lopez-Olguin during the summer of 2025 after receiving information alleging he was involved in the distribution of cocaine in Southern Maryland. Investigators alleged the activity centered around businesses in Solomons and North Beach.
Court records show detectives conducted surveillance over several months and documented what they described as suspected hand-to-hand drug transactions, meetings with known drug users, counter-surveillance driving tactics and other behavior consistent with narcotics distribution.
On June 10, 2026, members of the Drug Enforcement Unit observed Lopez-Olguin leave his North Beach residence and travel through Prince Frederick. Investigators reported he was driving a red GMC Sierra when detectives initiated a traffic stop near Plum Point Road after observing traffic violations.
During the stop, authorities requested assistance from a K-9 unit. Court records state a Maryland State Police K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert for the presence of controlled dangerous substances.
According to charging documents, detectives observed Lopez-Olguin remove a small plastic tear-off packet from his pocket while being informed of the K-9 alert. Investigators alleged the packet contained suspected cocaine. Authorities later recovered approximately one-half gram of suspected cocaine from the packet.
A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered approximately 60 grams of suspected cocaine concealed inside a plastic bag near the driver’s-side sun visor. Investigators reported additional suspected cocaine packaging materials were discovered during the arrest process.
Authorities later obtained and executed a search warrant at Lopez-Olguin’s North Beach residence. According to court records, investigators recovered several items of suspected drug paraphernalia containing white powder residue, as well as documents investigators alleged were fraudulent.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 10, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
